$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install fortunes-off 

fortunes-off is installed in your system.

Make ensure the fortunes-off package were installed using the commands given below,

$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep fortunes-off *

You will get with fortunes-off package name, version, architecture and description in a table

fortunes-off package basic information:
